To Borrow Steve’s Words….
Let’s Get Loud!
It’s time to let everyone know about the Hummer. That includes hanging up all of those posters Becky printed for us anywhere in your region that will let you. This also means posters/flyers for the Bike Show, for the Ride in Swap Meet, and for the Taste of Summer at the Hummer. All of these events may not be your cup o’tea, but they may be enticing to other people you know. The more people that know about our rally, the more people we can get to attend, and that’s the best way to grow this party!
Thursday – Tuck Pence (a very favorite of Hardtail’s) plays in the afternoon followed by – Swamp Water Boogie – and the Dave Steffen Band
Friday – Enuff Said – then The Sociables
Saturday – Gregg “Cheech” Hall – Double Threat – and then one of our favorites, Sammy Ray and Friends
Sunday - Shady Glen Band takes the stage. Sunday music is New This Year as a thank you to those members that stick around to help clean up after the party.
We are still accepting sponsorships for the Hummer. The banner program found on page 21 of this newsletter is one option that businesses can opt for. It’s pretty good advertising for the buck. This would be a great option for your favorite ABATE Friendly Establishment to take advantage of because a lot of “eyes” see those banners at the Hummer. This is especially a good opportunity for local Greenwood/Thorp restaurants/bars to get their name out there. We have a lot of riders/attendees that stop at local places to eat, fill up with gas, or have their favorite beverage on the way to or from during the Hummer.
Remember to promote our first ever “Bring You Own Everything” swap meet. Last year we were rained out, so everyone is pretty excited to get this off the ground in June 2025. The cost to set up and sell your wares is the gate entry fee. Set up a table for the day and get the chance to sell or find what you have been looking for. It’s a good chance to look for that old part you haven’t been able to find on a stockroom shelf.
Our Ride In Bike Show is a favorite part of the Hummer. Registration is on Saturday morning and we sure get some pretty sharp bikes – new and old – to look at and drool over. There are multiple prizes and different categories. Please tell your friends – even if they aren’t a member. Maybe this will be the thing that lets you Get Yours! Here’s Hopin’.
Your Summer Hummer T-shirt order form is finally available in this newsletter. Pre-ordered shirts will be available for pick up at the Hummer. You won’t be disappointed in the design. You are also able to order these online. Be sure to order yours soon. The deadline is coming up fast for pre-ordering.
Junior Patriot coordinator, John Stumpner, will again be holding a Bike Wash by the brown palace to generate a little cash for the Junior Patriot cause. I’m sure our bikes will come in a little dusty, so let’s take advantage of his soap on, soap off skills. Right Miagi?
Below is a list of Summer Hummer department leads. When you decide which area you are interested in volunteering for, give them a call and get on the schedule. The more we can do to help out, the better the Hummer will Hummmmm. One area that always needs help is restroom cleanup. Get together with your region and take a 4-hour shift. Any member that completes (2) four-hour shifts will earn themselves $15 worth of ABATE Hummer Bucks. Hummer Bucks can be applied to ABATE products purchases or can be cashed in at the Bar Chip table for Bar Chips.
We could use a little help with food vendors. If you know of one that would be willing to join us for the Hummer. Give Betsy Jennings or Laurie Shakal a call…. or call Marie at the office and she will be glad to forward your message to the powers that be.

This year marks 20 years, yes Twenty Years, since the Hummer has been on our own land! Where does the time go?
