Officer Training and Lobby Day are over. Two very important days for us. At Officer Training we talked a lot about membership retention. It’s very important that we keep the people we work so hard to recruit. Your regional rep should have information on how to do that. If you need any additional information on membership or retaining new members feel free to contact me.
Let me share an example using one of our lapsed member reports. 36 individuals lapsed in one month. 16 were first year members. This is the trend that I hope we can stop by implementing the “buddy” or mentor program. It’s my hope that all of the regions give this a try and hopefully, we can see our numbers going up and not down as they have been doing. I will keep you up to date about how this is working.
Lobby Day went well. I think the Legislators I talked with believe the issues we are addressing are reasonable and make sense. So, I’m hopeful for the future. It’s always good to hear that we do a very good job doing what we do.
It’s also election year for ABATE. In October you will decide on the people that are going to run our organization for the next two years. That’s very important, so start thinking about it. And of course, you can throw your own hat in the ring. If you are an officer now and don’t plan on running for office in the future, start looking for your replacement.
It was good to see you at Officer Training and at Lobby Day. Spring is just around the corner and so is riding!
