Meeting of the Minds Conference Report

By Don Greening

I have been an ABATE member for several years; however, this was my first time attending MOTM. I met people from all over the US, and everyone was willing to talk and share information.

One of the conversations that I had with a member from another SMRO was in regard to getting the younger generation interested in becoming members. They shared with me that they offered a free beginner riding course for all members at a local track. People could attend even if they were not a member; however, the cost of the course was more than becoming a member, so many signed up to be members so that there was no cost for participating in the course. This was something new they just tried within the last couple of years.

At MOTM, there was an opportunity to learn something throughout the entire time if you took the opportunity. I would recommend taking the opportunity to go to MOTM. The only regret that I have is not going sooner. I will definitely be going again.
