It's been an unusually cool spring this year. Hopefully, warmer weather is around the corner. As we are now in full campaign mode legislatively, please try to stay engaged with your local officials. If you can be of help to anyone running for office, don't hesitate. They will appreciate it and remember you when we are asking for support during the next two years in our legislative efforts.

 

Quite the drama surrounding our soup/dessert cookoff in April. Our long-term venue had a devastating fire the weekend before our event. We were relieved when the local Representative Ben DeSmit came to our rescue. He is co-owner of the Union Park Tavern in Kenosha and allowed us to move our event there on extremely short notice. What a gift that was. The staff was very accommodating, and we had a successful event. Our Illinois ABATE friends (also Wisconsin members) and several members from regions to the north joined us as well. Special guests County Executive Samantha Kerkman, Representative Ben DeSmit, Representative Tip McGuire, and Sheriff Dave Zorner stopped by to say hi also. Again, thanks to them and all of you for taking time out to attend our event. You're the reason our event was successful! Top Honors for soup went to your wonderful Region Rep, me. Diane took first place in the dessert category. Thanks to all the soup and dessert makers. We are a talented group. Everyone donated their winnings back to ABATE to help continue our fight to ride free.

 

We will hold a Regional Election for elected positions at our August Meeting. Please join us. If you have been waiting for a chance to dip your toe in leadership, now is a good time to begin.
