ABATE of Wisconsin Regions 1B Racine and 1J Kenosha
Meetings: 1st WEDNESDAY at 6:30 pm –The Brat Stop, I94 & Hwy 50.
Greetings to all! Join us at the Beer Gardens (3501 14th Ave, Kenosha) April 12th at noon for our Soup/Dessert cook off. Want to "compete"? Bring your soups hot and ready to serve, and or desserts at 11:30. This is always a fun event!
I hope you are enjoying the days that hint of spring. Have only seen one Robin but there are plenty of bikes going past the house. I remain hopeful that people take time to practice some "wakeup" skills other than the right wrist when heading out on the first few rides. There are two opportunities for you to do that at ABATE events this April. Buell Bob and 1F have their annual Knock the Rust Off extravaganza April 26 from 9-12 at Fox River Church in Waukesha. It promises to be better than ever. There is also a Riding Summit at Wisconsin HD in Oconomowoc April 26 & 27. Both locations offer you all a unique opportunity to try something new and beneficial to safer riding this spring. Put your name on their sign-up sheets instead of a patch!
We had some great successes at Lobby Day but there are still challenges ahead. We need everyone to contact your legislators and urge all of them to consider signing on and supporting our freedom of choice issues. Not sure who to call or contact? Call me and I will help you out. Not comfortable talking to people? Call the legislative office after hours and leave a message or consider an e-mail. Right to Repair, Protecting E10 or less, and Consumer Choice of Fueled Power Plants can truly benefit everyone. These proposals can work hand in hand with a transition to alternative power sources. Let’s create a reasonable timeline for our many citizens with limited resources to not get overwhelmed prematurely.
I am still offering my throwback membership discount to help you "get yours". Come to our next meeting and find out what that's about. Help our organization grow stronger with new members. Keep plugging away at those you know should belong to ABATE. Remember, the issues we fight for frequently transcend motorcycling. Educate your friends and neighbors to help us preserve their freedom of choice. I am trying to lead by example. I now have two!! How about you?
Let’s all stay free in the wind.
Mike
