ABATE of WI Region 2A
Meetings: 1st Sunday of the month at Racer’s Hall, W4408 CR-C, Plymouth, 12 Noon.
Today's meeting was on April 12th due to the Easter Holliday falling on the 5th.
We started with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for the fallen. Nate welcomed some new members and guests. Thanks for joining us, Sara and Jake also!
Julie gave the membership report with some members coming due. Julie also reminded everyone of the T-shirt drive currently going on. Recruit five new members and you will receive a T-shirt that says, "I Got Mine."
Jen gave the treasury report stating we brought in a good amount of money from our ABATE Brat Fry.
The Legislative report was given by Cathy. The sessions have ended due to the election year, but the Senate of Transportation committee decided to hold an executive session on SB831 (allowing the testing of levels 4 and 5 autonomous vehicles in Wisconsin) the committee passed it, but it was a written ballot. Also, on the SB831 bill a call-to-action email was sent out asking each member reach out to their Senators and vote no, with not a lot of responses. Senator LeMahieu asked the chair to hold the vote and get the bill along with others out of committee. ABATE is working with a group called PIRG (Public interest research group) on the right to repair legislation. It created a survey to send out to independent repair shops in an effort to gather information and get a sense of what impact these reforms will have. This will be emailed to ABATE members also to forward on so watch for this!
Nate mentioned he has newsletters and signs available.
The MRF report followed given by Jen.
Meeting Of The Minds is coming to Milwaukee in September. Hopefully, everyone is coming as it is a great opportunity to attend this National conference held locally. Anyone age 35 or under is encouraged to register with a discounted sign-up fee.
There will be many interesting topics and learning experiences to gain knowledge from. You can also volunteer to help as it takes a lot of people to run these events. Jen will be giving a presentation at this conference to the new attendees.
A reminder also, as an MRF member you automatically receive a $3,500 ADD (accidental death and dismemberment) Insurance Policy at no charge. You also can join National Core for free and receive another ADD Policy.
Products report was given by Keith. He stated that the products do run true to size.
