Meetings: 1st Sunday of the month at Racer’s Hall, W4408 CR-C, Plymouth, 12 Noon. 

 

Our meeting was held on June 7th at Racers Hall in Plymouth. We welcomed a new member Jake and a guest Chuck S. Aka Cheryls brother.

 

The Secretary Report was read followed by the Membership Report given by Julie. Julie reminded everyone to pass the membership postcard to a non-member to get in at the same rate as a member. You will also be entered to win a 1-year membership or cash equivalent.

The Treasury Report was given by Jen. We processed several membership applications. We purchased the picnic table in memory of Bug that will be at the land. We also purchased more R.I.P patches for Bug. All monies came from the Bug memorial fund. Any of the remaining funds will be donated to the Marlene Bautch fund.

 

A Legislative Report was given by Nate. He mentioned there was an article in the newsletter on the visits to DC and some other meetings held. Everyone should take a few minutes to read. On the MRF side Jen mentioned that on the State level August 11th is the primary election, so please get out and vote! Wisconsin. All 99 members of the Wisconsin State Assembly are up for election. 17 of the 33 State Senators are up for election also. At the Federal Side all of the House of Representatives are up for election. There are 435, 8 of which are from Wisconsin. Get out and meet your Representatives as they will be at local events. Introduce yourself and ask them if they are supporting Motorcyclists' rights. There are 9 million Motorcyclists in the USA and 540,000 in Wisconsin, so when we walk into those offices, that's who we represent.

 

At Bikers In The Beltway in DC, some of the topics were the Anti-profiling language in the Highway bill and making sure it stays in there. The Highway Bill gets passed every five years and that is for all the funding for our roads and bridges etc.

It is a massive dollar amount, but we have language in there to keep Law Enforcement from profiling Motorcyclists based on our choice to ride and what we choose to wear. At the request of the MRF on that day they were able to get an amendment put into the bill that included anti-profiling not just for what we ride but also the attire that is worn.

 

Also covered was The Right To Repair. Glenn Grothman is already a cosponsor on The Right To Repair, and Jen talked to him about the update on the definition of a motorcycle because in Wisconsin it was changed, however on the Federal level it was not. Autocycles are still considered a motorcycle. We are looking to separate them from us so they would have their own classification. Some other topics covered were protecting the internal combustion engine and our fuel source E10 or less.

They are also looking to educate people on the autonomous vehicle. Jen led a meeting with Tony Wied, and she also talked to Derrick Van Orden (motorcyclist champion of the year winner.)

 

Keith gave the products report stating there will be a limited selection available at the Summer Hummer.

 

Nate wanted to thank the volunteers who showed up to help at the ABATE booth at the Flat Track Races in Plymouth on May 29th. We signed up some members and also gave away a cool backpack.

Meeting of The Minds is a National Conference coming September 24-27 in Milwaukee. This is a great opportunity to learn and get motivated and it is local this year.

Summer Hummer is June 25-28th at the land. Also upcoming is our Brat Fry held at Racers Hall on January 30th.

 

On a different note, Tony bestowed some patches to both Cheryl aka rumble strip and Ron aka One hit wonder. Congratulations to both of you! (I think LOL)
