ABATE of WI Region 2A
Meetings: 1st Sunday of the month at Racer’s Hall, W4408 CR-C, Plymouth, 12 Noon.
Our December meeting was held at Racer's Hall in Plymouth on the 7th. Julie gave the membership report with a few members due to renew. The membership drive is still going on. If you sell 5 memberships you will receive a T Shirt that says " I Got Mine."
I gave the secretary report. Jen gave the treasury report, reporting we raised a decent amount of money from the quilt raffle for ABATE.
We continued with Cathy for the legislative report. She stated mostly everything was covered in last month's meeting, We are waiting for a hearing on the Right to Repair Bill. If this does not pass, we will be waiting until 2027 to continue our fight due to campaigning.
Nate mentioned you can go to Wisconsin.Gov to check on anything that is going on. He also has some extra newsletters and yard signs for any interested members.
Next was the MRF report given by Jen. Nate brought some handouts on the CAFE standards to which Jen elaborated on as being the Corporate Average Fuel Economy. President Trump has rolled back the standards. CAFE was a back door way of banning internal combustion engines by creating standards that no internal combustion engine could meet. Good news is that has gotten pushed back and is off the table however, this could change with a new administration.
Right to Repair on the State level, the MRF was supposed to get a public hearing that did not happen. Due to large companies such as the OEM manufactures pushing back. Therefore, we have been making a stronger effort to reach out to various ATV, UTV, and Snowmobile clubs as well. Worm stated on Friday the European Union opened their rules on this and will be manufacturing the internal combustion engines past 2035. The Federal law will override State laws on the EPA side of things. Example: if your vehicle is clear for all 49 States you may go into California.
Keith gave the products report saying the website is up if anyone would like to order products. The clothing does run true to size. There are a lot of new and exciting products available.
Jane presented the winner of the quilt raffle to the winner stating she was very happy and excited to have won!
