ABATE of WI 3C Shawano County News:
Attention Region 3C Members: With some early discussions at our January meeting, we will decide on what events to continue with in 2026 such as meat raffles, B2B Tour, Roadside Cleanup, MC awareness rallies, FYNR, etc. We’ve had low attendance at these events by members in the last few years. We really need a treasurer and a secretary too. We will need to downsize our regional events, so please provide your feedback to help with this change. Attend one of the next couple meetings or contact me. - Pauline
Our Shawano meeting was held at Becca’s On the Rocks (Antigo) on Saturday, Feb 14. We had 10 members in attendance. The meeting started with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by a Moment of Silence for those in harm’s way and for Jim Ambler who recently passed.
Pauline reviewed our checkbook with a balance of $300. Cheryl Sheridan took photo of our raffle license at OT.
For Legislation, we talked about several alerts and issues for Lobby Day on Feb 17th and the Route 5 bus schedule. I shared my feedback from the legislative hearing on autonomous vehicles operating in Level 4 and Level 5 on our Wisconsin roads. Interesting, after the Tesla pro feedback from the Tesla official, she left the room and did not stay for any feedback on the contrary. It’s not what they say but what they do that is concerning. Very interesting session.
Sue has one class scheduled for the future but there have been no classes so far in 2026.
Officer training was Feb 6-8 in Marshfield. So much going on in our organization. I reviewed what I learned and gave some feedback. Marketing by Krissy rocked. She has a great promotion for “National Night Out” that I’ll check into. We have marketing materials for our events to help make them successful. Also picked up road signs - no coasters this year.
Membership “mentor” program discussed for new members. Jimmy is out recovering from hip replacement surgery. He reports that we have 141 members, 13 pending, 14 lapsed. If you can, renew your membership early to save costs.
Received posters, magnets, and information about SUMMER HUMMER and learned more about updates at the land. Proposal for land approved to begin fundraising for more improvements.
Verified who needed to be contacted for Lobby Day, this coming Tuesday. Together we will share our opinion on Right to Repair, Fuel, Engines and more. There have been some alerts. Many are sent and only 10% respond so do your part and respond to the alerts.
The topic of late newsletters continues. Please log the date that you receive your newsletter so we can collect this information. Something isn’t working right somewhere. Betty is aware and taking some steps to track the process.
HUPY lawyer talked about insurance types, umbrella policy, and different scenarios. DOT roadway engineer Tina provided a nice map of when crashes occur. We have a fair amount of riders who are not endorsed. Please keep up on your training (See Gary Klinker and SAFE RIDER).
MRF, Cathy Dial, talked about the MRF alert process and concluded that only 10% take the action necessary on the alert. Be prompt and send emails to your legislators when requested.
Some random notes from OT: Once you give up you never get it back. Never take by force what can be taken by diplomacy. If there was nothing to do, we wouldn't be here.
SAFETY: The safety topic was to commit to a crash free 2026. There were 98 fatalities in 2025. Most are over committing on our riding skills. Make your commitment to ride safe in 2026! If you're not endorsed, get an MC endorsement on your DL.
We will be having a Region 3C ride to the Wisconsin Motorcycle Memorial to place a brick for our brother Paul Wittlinger who passed in August, 2025 and for Jim “Bodean” Ambler who recently passed. The ride will occur on August 23. Watch for more details.
2026 B2B Tour letters or emails were sent on February 16 with a due date of March 7. Please remind any businesses to look for and to respond to our B2B letters.
Thank you, Becca, at On the Rocks for your hospitality and supporting ABATE of Wisconsin! Becca’s is one of our new Antigo Business members.
Shawano County monthly meetings are on the 1st Saturday of the month at 1pm. The March 7th meeting at BJ’s Salty Saloon (W8599 Broadway St. (and Elm St.) and the April 4th Meeting at Hensel’s Shawano Inn (Shawano)
Langlade County meetings are on the 2nd Saturday at 1 pm. March 14 at Riverside Pub (Pearson) and April 11 meeting at Held’s Bar (Neva).
Freedom Isn’t Quiet!

ABATE of WI 3C Langlade County News:
Hi Everyone,
We had a good meeting with 15 in attendance. We talked about officers training and what we learned, and we talked about the Summer Hummer. I have Advance tickets if anyone is interested. We are also getting ready for our B2B books coming out soon. A few things have changed. Our March meeting will be at Riverside Pub in Pearson, and our April meeting will be at Helds Bar. They are the second Saturday of the month at 1 pm. Would like to thank Becca's on the Rocks for hosting our meeting.
Robin
