Summer Hummer Report - September 2026

Hummer 2026 Showed a Nice Profit
Can we do better? You Bet We Can.
The numbers look good so far in that we showed a profit at the Hummer. Again, a Big Thank You to everyone that helped us out planning, setting up, and working over the 3-day event.
Why did we show a better-than-expected profit? Because of our sponsors. This year we had very generous sponsors that supported this fundraising party for us. Our fixed expenses to put on this party/fundraiser is just that…fixed expenses. Except for a few adjustments, expenses are there whether we have 200 people show up or 800 people show up. Our committee is very conscious of costs of the Hummer and are frugal when hiring bands, ordering beverages, paper products, etc. while still giving our attendees and members what they want. To enjoy profitability, we have two choices - grow the party by having more people attend or solicit more sponsors. What am I getting at here? Unfortunately, our party is not growing attendance wise, so we need to concentrate on sponsors. Sponsorship begins in October. By October 1st we will be sending out sponsorship information that needs to be filled out and returned to us by December 31st. Part of the sponsorship incentive for businesses is advertising on our Summer Hummer poster. The deadline for getting us info for the poster is December 31st which allows us ample time to create and print the poster then distribute them at Officer’s Training. Sponsorship forms will be printed in the newsletter and will be distributed at our Annual Meeting in October. If you know of a business that would be willing to help us out here, please get the information to them. We are counting on all of our members to help us out here.
Worm tells us that he is pretty close to having our musical lineup complete for Hummer 2027. Of course, we will not announce those bands until contracts are signed and sent back to us, so we know they are committed to our event.
Remember the direct advertising postcards that were sent to our members last year? We will be doing that again this year. Several people attended using those postcards that were given them by one of our members to get into the event at a member price. We even had a few members sign up after being there. Double bonus.
We are working on a few incentivizing ideas for food vendors, so we can be sure we have enough coverage next year. One idea is to have food vendors commit by end of year with payment in full and possibly receive a partial refund of their entry fee when they set up at the Hummer in June.
Again, Kudos to Region 8A for their Frat Party campsite theme. The prize for their efforts will be a delivered picnic table, fire ring, and wood to their campsite at the 2027 Hummer. We think they did an awesome job as did many other campsites that were in the contest. This is something that everyone looks forward to each year, so start thinking of your regional “Theme.”
Any ideas for improvement or anything you would like to see added? Contact Worm or Betty.
See you in 2027!
SAVE THE DATE – JUNE 24-27, 2027
It will be a rip-roaring time!
