Safety Report - May 2026

May 2026

We are off and running. Classes started the last weekend of April and are filled through June so far. The weather has been good for riding, so I hope everyone is out and blowing off the winter cobwebs. Practice and experience are the keys to safe riding. Situational awareness when on the road is as important as anywhere else in life.

A group of us will be riding to DC this month for Bikers in the Beltway where we will meet with our entire Congressional Delegation and our two US Senators. It is a quick trip out and back and the weather is not always very good, but it is important work. After a day in their office buildings with three or four hundred bikers they know we are serious about our issues. By contacting your congressional rep and senator and by responding to the Calls to Action from the MRF and ABATE you can make our work easier even if you can’t join us in DC.

We are always looking for prospective Rider Coaches for Safe Rider. If you think you would like to keep new riders safe on the road, teach them skills needed to ride and encourage them to be lifelong motorcyclists call me. The first step is to take part in a BRC class as a student. You must be willing to work weekends and travel to our area near Tomah. It is very rewarding and pays well. If it sounds like this is for you, please contact me.

I’d like to send a big thank you to Bug’s family for the donation to Safe Rider in his name. It was his wish to support the program after his passing. We go back about 40 years to when we were both Regional Reps. He was always a big supporter of Safe Rider.

Get out there, put on some miles, and be careful.

Ride Safe,

Gary
