Meeting of the Minds

Be Our Brother/Sister’s Keeper

Meeting of the Minds in Louisiana was another great one for the books. Thank you, ABATE of WI, for supporting our efforts to learn and grow our organization.

The MRF board meeting on Thursday covered topics from ways to get motorcyclist fatalities under control, as we are still killing ourselves and giving the government a reason to take us off the roads, to ways to engage the younger riders while encouraging them to participate. There were conversations about stunt riders and social media, which Ryan calls InstaTwitFace, and even drawings for participation. We are in a great political environment to get things done, so let’s Carpe Diem, as Rocky says. And Ryan made a great point: “it’s not about you knowing your legislators’ names; it’s about them knowing yours.” Make those connections; build those relationships.

Several states are working on Bentley’s Law, which entails that if a person is convicted of killing a biker with children, the person would have to pay child support until the children turn 18.

Congrats to Cathy and Hardtail for joining me in the Top 10 membership recruiters of the year! It’s one thing when a state consistently puts one member on stage, but for WI to put THREE members up there in back-to-back years, that really shows our dedication to the organization.

U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins offered a truly patriotic and passionate keynote speech. He said, “if you don’t have freedom to travel the land, you don’t live in a free land.” Congressman Higgins said President Trump is in awe of bikers, calling us the last cowboys. We have a culture worth fighting for and we are welded together by our love for freedom.

Let’s keep building our future and fighting for freedom. Let’s keep planning ahead. After all, it wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.

Stay vigilant, my friends,

Jen Abraham
