John Reblin for Executive Director

I am asking for your vote for Executive Director. I have served in this role for the past three election cycles, and I am honored to run again.

Experience and Service:

Over the years, I have served ABATE of Wisconsin in many roles, including Region Representative, Board Member, Highway Safety Chair, Deputy Executive Director, and Executive Director. As Highway Safety Chair, I also served on the Motorcycle Safety and Advisory Council and was its chairperson for several years.

I have built a strong working relationship with the Wisconsin DOT and have collaborated on efforts aimed at reducing motorcycle crashes and fatalities. I have also participated in STEAM, Meeting of the Minds, and the Governor’s Safety Conference. Promoting motorcycle safety is one of my greatest passions, and I believe it is essential to protecting both our freedom of choice and our future on the road.

Leadership Approach:

I work well with fellow Board members and value their support, insight, and experience. I believe strong leadership means listening carefully, seeking advice when needed, and making informed decisions that keep our organization aligned with its mission.

Goals for the Next Two Years:

· Protect motorcycling in Wisconsin through effective legislative advocacy.

· Help reduce motorcycle crashes and fatalities through continued safety efforts.

· Strengthen and grow our membership.

· Work together on legislative issues to ensure our voice is heard, especially on Lobby Day.

· Preserve our history by creating a museum on our property to share important artifacts and stories from ABATE of Wisconsin’s early years.

Successfully lead fundraising efforts such as the Reg 6A Potata, Potata, Potata Party on Potato Lake which led to generous donations to the state.

Voted Man of the Year by Stone Lake Cranberry Festival. At this event ran the downhill crate races for the kids.

Running for Deputy Director is a big step. I believe I am capable of taking on this position and doing what is required of me. I can and will be there for the Executive Director to the best of my ability. I have complete respect for the current Deputy Director, the entire board, and our dedicated ABATE of WI members.

My main goal is to keep ABATE of WI the number one SMRO in the country. I want to help lead us down the right path to protect our motorcycle rights and way of life for many years to come for our children and current/future motorcyclists in Wisconsin and nationwide. I want to carry on our Mission Statement. Nothing says it better than

that.

One of my goals for this organization is to continue protecting our rights on the road as motorcyclists. We have many challenges coming forth for motorcyclists which we will need to address strategically and at full force.

Two years ago, at ABATE Family Weekend a few of our members suggested I should run for business agent. By the end of the weekend and after talking with my husband Pat, I decided to become a write-in candidate. I won the election and have decided that I want to continue with the position if I am fortunate enough to be voted in again.

I have been a member of ABATE for 15 years, the last 9 as a Lifetime Member.

Previous positions include Treasurer for Region 4A and the last 2 years as the Business Agent. I have been very involved with ABATE Acres and have volunteered to help with family weekend, Meeting of the Minds, and wherever I have been needed.

My goal is to continue to be an active member. I will do anything asked of me to aid the organization to thrive and achieve our goals.

My career in finance is helpful in advising on the organization's budget and investment decisions. It also gives me a conservative spending approach to ensure long-term success of ABATE.

What are your goals for ABATE of Wisconsin?

I joined ABATE of Wisconsin 14 years ago because I was looking to meet more friends to ride with. While that was the objective, over the years I have met so many people that I now consider great friends. As we move forward it's my goal to balance being respectful of the traditions, opinions, and history of the organization and its members; while introducing new ideas in order to attract the next generation of freedom fighters. What motivated people over 50 years ago is different than what motivates people today. We need to listen, observe, be inviting, and give people the tools that help them be successful across the state.

2 years ago when I initially ran for Board-At-Large I shared that there were 2 important questions I intended on asking myself when being asked to make decisions if elected. Those questions were: 1 - Will this help us gain members? 2 - If we do this, will we lose members? Over the last 2 years I have asked myself those questions often. As a board there have been decisions made that I voted against. I feared that some of those decisions would cause us to lose members but my vote was just that, 1 vote. In those cases, I believe that how I responded demonstrated my dedication to this organization, its members, and to our future success. I stood up and said I believe we made a mistake and I put the effort and time into solutions. Those questions are still important to me. If the answers are that we may/will lose members and we won't gain members; we shouldn't be moving forward. Almost every volunteer organization is experiencing the same problem; loss in membership and loss in volunteers. We can't afford to give them a reason to leave. We need to focus on gaining members, giving them a reason to show up for meetings and events, and making events fun so that people enjoy helping and take pride in the success. Without members, we would really struggle with grassroots legislation efforts. When I look at the most successful regions across the state and those who have younger members getting involved, the key reason they say they are successful is because they have fun at their meetings and events.

If I were elected again, I can promise you that I will be at Board Meetings in person. When making decisions and planning events, having all the right people involved in the conversation at the same time is how we get the most accomplished and are respectful of everyone's time. My goals will continue to be to increase ABATE of Wisconsin name recognition, increase membership, be smart with our money, get regions the tools they need to be successful, and get the next generation of leaders the mentoring that will get & keep them motivated to be involved. I would appreciate your vote and the opportunity to keep this amazing organization moving forward.

Donn R. Garves, Sr.

I have been an ABATE member over 23 years. I also have been an MRF member for several years. I was treasurer for Region 1G. I am pro-people and pro-democracy. I want to get ABATE working for its founding principles of fighting for people’s right to choose what they do and buy. I am against totalitarian enactments. Our politicians pass laws based on corporate campaign contributions, not what voters want. Big corporations are controlling our government and internet. I want to get members of ABATE to support people working for people’s rights not their personal profit. I believe we need to talk to young motorcyclists and make any changes in ABATE needed to get their participation. I suggest we have corn hole or beer pong tournaments at the Summer Hummer to attract younger people. I saw college students playing those games most days when living near UW La Crosse. We could have Junior Patriots build tables for these games for Summer Hummer use or to sell.

Jay Goecks

Hello my name is Jay Goecks. Over the last 8 years I've been an active member of ABATE 7E and MRF.  I was originally brought into ABATE by three people. Unfortunately, two of them are no longer with us. I learned so many important things from their administration and dedication for this organization.  They inspired me over the years not only with words but their wisdom. I have proudly been a membership officer of 7E-8F region for last 4 years, along with having the privilege of being the regional representative for 7E-8F for the last year and a half. In a small amount of time as an officer, I found myself challenged with the task of trying to bring back a region that unfortunately had seem to become dormant and silent after their representative had moved away. I was successful in bringing back Dane county over the last 4 years with roughly a 200%+ membership increase.  I do believe every region can do the same.  We need someone to continue going forward with the vision and ambitions as I have shown.  Someone to make our organization bloom in the next 20+ years instead of just sustaining. We need to open up options for getting new members to join ABATE.  We need someone to represent us with the testicular fortitude that's going to stick with their decision that is best for the organization as a whole instead of just going along with the crowd. That being said, I believe if I'm elected to BOD-at-Large, I can help increase membership with the younger generations along with hopefully, making us stronger in membership and legislatively.

Cat Huntowski

I have been an ABATE of Wisconsin member for over 35 years. I am also a long-time member of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF). In the past, I have served on the ABATE Board of Directors for over 25 years. I have served as the Summer Hummer chair for 3 years when the party was held at the Clark County Fairgrounds. I have served on the Legislative Committee for over 25 years. I have attended over 15 national conferences representing ABATE of Wisconsin. I have presented at the Wisconsin Governor's Safety Conference on 2 occasions and was the chair of the Highway Safety Committee for 3 years. I am a Share The Road instructor for District 3. My goals for the future of ABATE of Wisconsin include keeping the organization solvent through financial oversight, increasing outreach to increase membership with younger riders and continuing to ensure education and roadway safety initiatives. I am also working, with the program coordinator, to revamp the Share The Road program to address the challenges presented by on-line driver education. I would also like to research possible grant opportunities for our education and safety program.

Dave “Twit” Linberg

Hello, my name is Dave “Twit” Linberg.

I’m a candidate for ABATE Board-at-Large.

Current BOD at Large – third term.

7D Membership officer.

Land Committee member.

Been to Lobby Day, Officer’s Training, State meetings, STEAM, and MOTM many times since the 1980’s.

Want to see ABATE continue to be the leader in Education, Legislation, and Safety.

Open to ideas for recruiting new & younger members. Not to forget retaining members that we currently have.

Try to keep members active past the 1 – 2 year mark.

We own property, so just like your own home it requires upkeep and progressing.

Steve Panten

I respectfully request to be considered as a candidate for ABATE of Wisconsin – Board Member at Large. I have been a member for 35 years. I was first elected to the Board of Directors in 2012, and I am currently the Chair of the Legislative Committee. On the Board I also sit on the Highway Safety and Summer Hummer Committees, and I help with the Property Committee. I have also previously held the position as Region Rep. for 1H. I continue to be active in the Region as the Legislative Officer as well as helping on Committees whenever possible.

I am a past presenter at Officers Training, Share the Road Training, Grassroots Lobby Training as well as at the Motorcycle Riders Foundation’s Meeting of the Minds Conference. I am proud to be a past recipient of the Founders Award, Executive Directors Award, Freedom Fighter of the Year, Patriot of the Year and District 1 Member of the Year Award along with the Presidents Cup from the Motorcycle Riders Foundation.

My position on the BOD, as well as being Chair of the Legislative Committee, has taught me the importance of working with people to find common ground and creating a solution that everyone can live with. Working with the members of Legislature has been a challenge but with the help of our membership I know we can be successful, and I am looking forward to continuing that process. The future of ABATE is exciting. We are facing some serious battles, and I will continue to push the organization to remain vigilant. Remaining on top of issues and pushing for a solution rather than cleaning up afterwards is what I am trying to achieve for this great organization.

Kirk “Hardtail” Willard

1) Past Positions: Area Rep, Public Relations Director, Board at Large member, past Deputy Director, Legislative Committee member since 1997, ABATE Officer and/or Board member since 1997, current Deputy Director.

2) Other Qualifications: Motorcycle Riders Foundation Board member since 2002, I have held the positions of SSMRO Representative to the Board, Vice President, and currently President and Chairman of the Board of the Motorcycle Riders Foundation since 2006.

3) Goals: As a board member and/or officer since 1997 as well as a past and current Deputy Director I believe I am ideally suited to help us manage through the significant changes in motorcycling we are seeing. Combining my working knowledge and history of ABATE, my National and International motorcycle experiences, professional and civic board experience, education and professional experience I would look to work with our Board and engaged

members to maintain our position as the premier motorcyclist’s rights organization in the country as well continuing our role as a major influencer in the federal arena.
