Dear Cuz,
I heard it's an election year. I want to remind everyone that the elected positions in our organization are really not that hard. Sure, they require a commitment of time and energy. Anything worthwhile does. You may be nervous and unsure, but that's ok. Who isn't? There are many of us who will answer questions and guide you so that you get comfortable with a new position within this great organization. In fact, ABATE has a whole weekend dedicated to training! The officer’s manual has a template to follow for almost every duty. If it were that hard, I wouldn't be doing it.
Our organization needs people to rotate in and out of leadership positions. If that does not happen, we, as an organization, run the risk of leadership burnout. Most of our members are totally capable of replacing almost anyone in your region or on the board. Please think about making us better. We won't be offended or mad if someone runs against us. In every organization I belong to, there are plenty of people who have great ideas. Is it time for you to take that step? We need YOU.
Signed,
Glad I Did It, No Regrets
Dear Glad,
Well, I for one am glad you stepped up, and what a great way to explain that you don’t have to be cautious about jumping into a leadership role with both boots. There are plenty of members that a new officer can reach out to at the twist of the throttle to mentor you - and believe you me I ask a lot of questions about a lot of things even at my ripe ole age. Throw your headwrap in the ring and bring on the new ideas….for membership….for events….for fundraising and for fun at ABATE Acres! Watch this newsletter for your next opportunity to step up and to run for office! You won’t regret it, and neither will we.
Carry on,
Your ever-loving “Cuz,”
