ABATE of Wisconsin - Region 1H
(Washington County)
Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the American Legion Post 522, 3590 N Shore Drive, Hubertus, WI. 53033

We have implemented a new policy effective immediately. If your cell phone rings after a monthly meeting has begun, you will be required to make a $5 donation to ABATE. This was discussed at the March meeting and agreed upon by all. The first member to violate the policy and donate $5 is Randy Dahleen. Thanks for the donation, Randy, and thank you for being a good sport!

Steve thanked all members that attended Lobby Day. He was impressed by the great turnout from Washington County and described the meetings held as productive. Steve reviewed progress on issues such as protection of combustible engines, ensuring the right to repair, and protecting the availability of fuel rated E-10 or less.

Jon announced a membership drive. If a member signs up 5 new members in a year, they will earn a t-shirt, and signing up 10 new members in a year will earn a free annual membership as well.

Julie showed off some new products that we hope to have available soon. Stay tuned.

Ralph shared that we earned more than $3800 at the Randy & Janine Memorial Fish-O-Ree in January. We were given the opportunity to give input on how to spend this money to support highway safety, and we voted to maintain an awareness billboard on Hwy 41 in Washington County.

Come to the Region 1-H Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at VFW Post 1393 -- 260 Sand Drive, West Bend. Chili check-in is between noon and 1:30; with awards and raffle prize winners announced around 3:30. Remember to bring a serving ladle and ensure your chili is HOT because it may not be served if it is not hot enough. Cost is $5 at the door. There will be a 50/50 cash raffle, prize raffle, and meat raffle. Region 1-H Members – we need prizes for this event. Please contact Brenda, Cherie, or Michelle to arrange pick up. We also need members to help with responsibilities such as checking in the pots of chili, collecting money for admission, and selling raffle tickets. Bars and/or cookies are needed the day of the event so we can offer a sweet treat to top off the chili.

On April 12, 2025, Regions 1G and 1H are excited to announce our first Traveling Meat Raffle in Fredonia. There will be a total of three stops with a meat raffle and 50/50 cash raffle at each location. From 1 to 2 pm, we will be at the NoWhere Pub (W-3116 Belgium Kohler Road); from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, we will be at Jen’s Place (504 Fredonia Avenue); and from 3:45 to 4:45 pm, we will be at Tom & Jodi’s Fredonia Inn (412 Fredonia Avenue).

Boyd told members that he is planning to schedule the next social ride in May. He will choose the stops and set the date soon.

Dog informed us that our 1G/1H Awareness rally is Saturday, May 3rd starting in Grafton and ending in West Bend. We will meet at the Grafton US Bank parking lot on Hwy 60 and Port Washington Road from 9:30 to 11 am. We move to West Bend Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot on Paradise Drive to continue the rally between 11:30 and 1pm.

On Saturday, May 10th, we have again been invited to set up a stand to sell food at Al’s Hideout in West Bend as they host their car show. We will need volunteers to staff this food stand. Details to come.

Consider attending the 15th Annual “Bikers Helping Bikers” Poker Run, scheduled for May 17th. The ride starts at the Ozaukee Guzzlers’ Clubhouse (412 Jay Road, Fredonia) with check-in between 10:30 and noon. The cost is $20 and it includes food at the last stop.

Dog will set up an ABATE information table at the Spring Grass Drags on Saturday, June 14th at the Fillmore Sportsman’s Club at 412 Jay Road, Fredonia. If you’re able to help, please contact Dog.

We will have an ABATE booth at the Kettle Moraine Sports Riders Father’s Day Hill Climb on June 15th at the Sunburst Ski Area in Kewaskum. Julie will bring the ABATE Pop-Up tent and products to sell.

The dates for this year’s Summer Hummer are June 19th to 22nd. We are considering creative themes for campsite decoration at this year’s Summer Hummer. Last year’s theme will be hard to beat, but if you have some great ideas, please be prepared to share them at upcoming meetings.

Cherie has Advance Summer Hummer tickets ($35 per member). In addition, there are raffle tickets for a chance to win a Motorized Bar Stool ($5 each or five for $20). These tickets are available until all are sold or through the May meeting so money and ticket stubs can be submitted on time. **Michelle has two FREE tickets to the Summer Hummer for a member who has never attended before. Please let Michelle know if you’d like a chance to win these tickets!**

Looking ahead, we will have our Summer Long Run with the End of the Run Party on Saturday, September 13th at Traditions Pub & Grill in Fillmore. Seventy-six establishments are participating in this year’s run. We plan to have the books available at the Chili Cook-Off in April.

Ride safely as the season begins!

Michelle and Cherie
