Steve reminded members of the most important day of the year for motorcyclists - Lobby Day - on February 17, 2026. The bus schedule will be in the January newsletter, the group photo will be taken at noon, and our meeting is at 1:15 pm in room 328 Northwest.

 

Thanks to all who attended the Christmas Potluck Party and brought items for the Food Drive at December’s meeting. Because of the generosity of Region 1H members, we were able to contribute many much-needed items to the Hartford Food Pantry.

 

Reminder to all that we will vote to choose our Summer Hummer Campsite Theme at the January meeting. For obvious reasons, the themes to be considered will not be shared in the newsletter entry.

 

Cherie has tickets for the statewide Sweetheart Cash Raffle to be held on February 8th at Officer Training in Marshfield. Tickets are two for $5. Prizes awarded will be 1st - $1000, 2nd - $500, 3rd - $250. All money and ticket stubs must be turned in by the January meeting so they can be submitted on time.

 

Please consider attending the 15th Annual Randy & Janine Memorial to be held on Saturday, January 17th at Nuckleheadz (3680 County Hwy NN, West Bend). Registration starts at 6 am and raffle winners will be drawn at 5 pm. The proceeds have been and will continue to be donated to ABATE to support awareness activities. For those who are not familiar, Randy and Janine lost their lives when hit by a driver who committed a right-of-way violation. We are seeking donations of prizes/gift baskets and volunteers to help run the event.

 

Julie announced the date/time for the Region 1H/1F social outing with mini duckpin bowling at the Thirsty Duck in Sussex. It will be on Sunday, January 25th from 11am to 3 pm. Good luck to the Region 1H team of duckpin bowlers! All others are welcome to watch and cheer on our team! This is not a fundraising event – just a gathering of friends to have some fun!

 

Save the date for our Chili Cook-Off to be held on March 28, 2026, at the VFW Hall in West Bend – 260 Sand Drive, West Bend.

 

Jean Kurk has agreed to take on the role of Event Coordinator to fill the vacancy created when Mary and Brenda stepped down. We thank Mary and Brenda for their dedication and impressive results, and we are grateful to Jean for taking on this important role. We are all here to help!

 

Looking ahead to 2026, we plan to try another traveling meat raffle, gather for a social ride or two, and continue the very successful Summer Long Run. If you’re a member of Region 1H but haven’t been active, there are many opportunities to reconnect with old friends and make some new ones!

 

Finally, Wisconsin is the host of the 2026 MRF - Meeting of the Minds, and Region 1H will be responsible for the Hospitality Room. For those of you who like to schedule far in advance, the dates are September 24th to 27th, 2026, and the event will be held at the Sheraton Milwaukee-Brookfield.

 

Members are invited to bring gently used ABATE and biker clothing items, such as shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc., to monthly meetings for the purpose of selling, swapping, or giving away to fellow members. This will not be an officially sanctioned activity, but an informal opportunity for members to exchange products. Business must be conducted before and/or after (not during) the meetings.
