ABATE of Wisconsin - Region 1H
(Washington County)
Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the American Legion Post 522, 3590 N Shore Drive, Hubertus, WI. 53033

Steve thanked and sought feedback from all members that attended Lobby Day. He commended all who responded to the Calls to Action and reminded those who haven’t that it’s a simple way to be sure our voices are heard. Steve reviewed progress on issues such as stopping the autonomous vehicle bill that seeks to make Wisconsin a testing ground for driverless vehicles. The good news is that the bill has yet to be called to a floor vote. He also informed us that a survey is being developed regarding the Right to Repair bill – stay tuned.

Michelle reminded members that we have been tasked with the job of reviving participation in Region 1G by increasing interest and bolstering attendance at their monthly meetings. It will require a second meeting each month but will not change anything about the time or location of the Region 1H monthly meetings. Michelle has invited us all to support her in this mission by attending the Region 1G meetings to share ideas and enthusiasm. She plans to determine a location, date, and time to hold the first meeting in May. Information will be shared as it is available.

Jean thanked Michelle, Julie, Brenda, Jim, Boyd, and Dog for their support in signing up establishments for this year’s Summer Long Run. We have a total of 74 participating locations. The books are being printed and will be available at each establishment for $10 per book.

On April 11th, Regions 1G and 1H will hold their Second Annual Traveling Meat Raffle in Fredonia. There will be a total of three stops with a meat raffle and 50/50 cash raffle at each location. From 1 to 2 pm, we will be at the NoWhere Pub (W-3116 Belgium Kohler Road); from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, we will be at Jen’s Place (504 Fredonia Avenue); and from 3:45 to 4:45 pm, we will be at Tom & Jodi’s Fredonia Inn (412 Fredonia Avenue). Come to one location, two locations, or join us at all three!

Dog informed us that our 1G/1H Awareness rally is Saturday May 2nd starting in Grafton and ending in West Bend. We will meet at the Grafton US Bank parking lot on Hwy 60 and Port Washington Road from 9:30 to 11. We move to West Bend Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot on Paradise Drive to continue the rally between 11:30 and 1.

On Saturday, May 9th, we have again been invited to set up a stand to sell food at Al’s Hideout in West Bend as they host their car show. This is our one designated event which allows our members to decide how to use the profits made. We will need volunteers to staff this food stand. Details to come.

Consider attending the 16th Annual “Bikers Helping Bikers” Poker Run, scheduled for May 16th. The ride starts at the Iron Breed Clubhouse (6123 W. Mitchell St., West Allis) with check-in between 10 am and noon. The cost is $20 and it includes food at the last stop.

Boyd told members that he has scheduled the next social ride for May 30th. He will confirm the stops and share additional details at the April meeting.

Cherie informed members that the Civil War Monument dedication date has been changed due to a conflict with one of the donors. It has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 6th at 10 am at the Old St. Kilian Cemetery in Hartford (839 Union Street). We donated toward this monument with money earned last year at the food stand at Al’s Car Show. For additional information about the mission of this organization, please visit “Remembering Our Civil War Veterans” at rocwv.org.

Cherie has Advance Summer Hummer tickets ($40 per member) and Summer Cash Raffle tickets ($20 each with only 500 printed and twenty cash prize payouts). In addition, there are raffle tickets for a chance to win a Kooler Kart ($5 each or five for $20). These tickets are available until all are sold or through the June meeting so money and ticket stubs can be submitted on time. **Michelle has two FREE tickets to the Summer Hummer for a member who has never attended before. Please let Michelle know if you’d like a chance to win these tickets!**

Wisconsin is the host of the 2026 MRF - Meeting of the Minds at the Sheraton Milwaukee-Brookfield, and Region 1H is responsible for the Hospitality Room. Michelle has asked members to email her with their availability to help on any or all days between September 24th to 27th. We need to staff two rooms – one for beverages/bar service and one for snacks/meals. Michelle’s email address is nusbaum03@yahoo.com.

Members are invited to bring gently used ABATE and biker clothing items, such as shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc., to monthly meetings for the purpose of selling, swapping, or giving away to fellow members. This will not be an officially sanctioned activity, but an informal opportunity for members to exchange products. Business must be conducted before and/or after (not during) the meetings.

Ride safely as the season begins!

Michelle and Cherie
