ABATE of Wisconsin - Region 1H
(Washington County)
Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm at the American Legion Post 522, 3590 N Shore Drive, Hubertus, WI. 53033

Steve strongly encouraged members to be active participants in the legislative process by expressing concerns to elected officials through e-mails, phone calls, Calls-to-Action, speaking and/or being present at Assembly Hearings, and attending Lobby Day. He reviewed the topics to be covered at this year’s Lobby Day.

Come to the Region 1-H Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 28th at VFW Post 1393 -- 260 Sand Drive, West Bend. Chili check-in is between noon and 1:30; with awards and raffle prize winners announced around 3:30. Remember to bring your chili HOT because it may not be served if it is not hot enough. Cost is $5 at the door. There will be a 50/50 cash raffle, prize raffle, and meat raffle. Region 1-H Members – we need prizes for this event. Please bring them to the March meeting or contact Jean to arrange pick up. We also need members to help with responsibilities such as checking in the pots of chili, collecting money for admission, and selling raffle tickets. Bars and/or cookies are needed the day of the event so we can offer a sweet treat to top off the chili.

The second annual Traveling Meat Raffle will be in Ozaukee County on April 11th. Please save the date and volunteer to help if you’re available. It’s easy and lots of fun! Two of the three bars are confirmed – additional details will be shared in the April newsletter and on Facebook.

Cherie informed members that the Civil War Monument dedication will be on Saturday, April 25th at 10 am at the Old St. Kilian Cemetery in Hartford (839 Union Street). We donated toward this monument with money earned last year at the food stand at Al’s Car Show. For additional information about the mission of this organization, please visit “Remembering Our Civil War Veterans” at rocwv.org.

Michelle gave us notice that this year’s car show at Al’s Hideout will be on Saturday, May 9th. We will run the food stand as our “charitable event” where we can choose how to spend the money earned.

Cherie has Advance Summer Hummer tickets ($40 per member) and Summer Cash Raffle tickets ($20 each with only 500 printed and twenty cash prize payouts). In addition, there are raffle tickets for a chance to win a Kooler Kart ($5 each or five for $20). These tickets are available until all are sold or through the June meeting so money and ticket stubs can be submitted on time. **Michelle has two FREE tickets to the Summer Hummer for a member who has never attended before. Please let Michelle know if you’d like a chance to win these tickets!**

There are fifty-three establishments that have already signed up for the Summer Long Run, and we expect to finish signing up the remaining bars in the next couple weeks. We are seeking prize donations for raffle baskets. The Summer Long Run books will make their debut at the Chili Cook Off in March.

Wisconsin is the host of the 2026 MRF - Meeting of the Minds, and Region 1H will be responsible for the Hospitality Room. Mark your calendars for September 24th to 27th with plans to help at the Sheraton Milwaukee-Brookfield.

Boyd reported a profit of $3,469 at this year’s Randy & Janine Memorial Fish-O-Ree that was held on January 17th. The money has been donated to ABATE to be used to promote motorcycle awareness.

Michelle and Julie said that a fun time was had by all who attended the Duck Pin Bowling outing with Region 1F on January 25th. They hope to plan more intra-region social gatherings in the future!

Members are invited to bring gently used ABATE and biker clothing items, such as shirts, sweatshirts, hats, etc., to monthly meetings for the purpose of selling, swapping, or giving away to fellow members. This will not be an officially sanctioned activity, but an informal opportunity for members to exchange products. Business must be conducted before and/or after (not during) the meetings.

With warm wishes as we welcome spring!

Michelle and Cherie
