Greetings Region 3A! We held our monthly meeting March 1st, at the Windmill. The meeting started things off with the Pledge, MOS and welcoming of members/guests. In Communications, the next three meetings are on 04/12/26 (Easter), 05/23/26 & 06/07/26. The July meeting will be the second weekend 07/12/26, due to it landing on the 4th of July weekend.

Products, products are available at https://www.abatewis.org/shop, along with products for Lifetime Members only.

Safety/Share The Road, in Safety, the number of fatalities in WI were down to 93 in 2025, still too high, compared to the previous year. Three of those were deer related and 27 of the 93 were suspected of drug or alcohol involvement. 15% of them had no motorcycle endorsement. Although the numbers might be down, there is still work to be down on our part to get those numbers down even lower. Share The Road, Cat sent out letters to driving schools in the area with three responses, any leads or suggestions on where to hold a class, please contact Cat.

In Legislative, thanks for the Region’s participation at our Lobby Day. The Autonomous Vehicle Safety Directive SB 831 /AB 848 was a big concern for us as it was moving through the Senate quickly. Thankfully, it has not moved further with the Senate adjourning on March 17th. The concern is that operating in driverless technology modes not be allowed on Wisconsin roads until manufacturers have publicly proven complete safety testing of this technology, including how it reacts to motorcycles. Watch for this to be back. This technology and type of bills are not going away. We will be looking to reintroduce a Right to Repair Bill in the next session. Wisconsin consumers should have a choice of where their vehicle or products are serviced and repaired. Fuel choice Legislation will be another item that will be back. This is an election year; the fall election will fill the seventeen odd-numbered seats in the Wisconsin Senate and all 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly for the 108th Wisconsin Legislature. The previous items are a good topic to speak to the candidates about as they will be out campaigning. In Federal, please support H.R. 3385 - The Definition of a Motorcycle - update the nearly 60-year-old federal definition of a motorcycle. H.R. 1566 - The Right to Equitable Professional Auto Industry Repair Act (REPAIR Act) - ensures that vehicle owners or repair shops can access the information, software or tools needed to work on vehicles. H.J. Res 87 and H.J. Res 88 will help to protect the internal combustion engine, a top legislative priority for the Motorcycle Riders Foundation. They received bipartisan support in the House of Representatives. Watch for Call to Action on these or go to the MRF website and find them under Federal Legislation.

Onto Membership, new members often lapse after their first year. Act as a mentor or “Buddy” and check in regularly to help them stay involved.

In Treasury, Rachel gave the monthly numbers along with the event report on the Bottoms Up CCO & MR. We would like to thank them and their staff for another successful year. We also had our 33rd annual Amber Pub CCO & MR on March 14th. We’ll discuss the numbers on that at the next meeting. Thanks to the Amberg Pub and their staff and ours to help keep one of the longest running cookoffs going. Our attendance and numbers might be down in comparison to previous years due to Mother Nature’s weather scheduling on the same days as our event, but they have all been successful and we thank all of you for supporting them with your help to staff the events and/or your attendance.

Onto Old Business, no old business. In New Business, volunteers were asked for the 33rd Annual Amberg Pub Chili Cook Off & Meat Raffle on 03/14/26. We also passed out a tally form to document the date on which you are receiving your newsletter. If you would like one to participate, let me know, or you can do it on your own by keeping track of the date. This information will help the staff of the newsletter continue to get them out in a timely fashion.

Please join us on 04/25/26, for the 12th Annual Triple C Rider and Region 3A Chili Cook Off, Meat Raffle and Awareness Rally will be on April 25th, at Lolli’s 2029 Hall Ave, Marinette, WI 54143.
