Ready…set…go!  Not quite yet there sports fans still have some Winter left.  If there’s a silver lining, the rain is washing the roads of salt and sand. And for those procrastinating types; a chance to get that therapy machine ready!

Our April meeting was canceled due to the Easter holiday. Praying for everyone that celebrated with family and friends.

Caught up with a friend who is battling with some health issues and attempted solving several concerns. Happy to say his positive attitude outshines his troubles.  On a personal note, I really miss his “keeping me on my toes” at meetings. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that all of us in our organization aren’t getting younger, so take care of yourself!

Looked at the Traffic Crash Overview from NHTSA for 2024 and a couple items hit me. Crashes and fatalities are down but injuries are up. That stat is very likely going to attract attention from our detractors to be used as fuel for increased legislation to “keep us safe.” Second item is that motorcyclists are showing a downward trend in impaired driving fatalities. I would like to think that the campaign of “Better to bury a habit than bury a Brother” has contributed to the decrease in riders making risky choices!

Attended La Crosse City Council meeting this morning with E-bike/ E-scooter fine tuning of the language in restrictions on where these vehicles are allowed around the City. They used much of the State’s verbiage but needed to address some issues that Parks Department wanted codified. I would have liked to hear from Law Enforcement regarding trends in what they are ticketing violators with, but no reps were there.

Met my son in St. Paul for the Donnie Smith Bike Show and Swap meet! Lots of custom bikes and huge numbers of Shovelheads! The swap meet area was unreal… my son scored a deal on a rim for his old FLST.

Next meeting is May 3rd at Legion in Holmen at 1:30 pm. We will have Summer Cash Raffle tickets available for sale and Advance Hummer Tickets available that offer you a small discount if purchased now before you get to the gate. Any ideas for fundraisers? Bring them to the meeting.
