ABATE of WI - Region 2C
Meetings: 1st Sunday of the month at Noon
MEETINGS:
1st Sunday of the month. Location changes to allow for more participation. March meeting was held at Dundee Roadhouse in Dundee, WI. A huge Thank You to the staff and management there. They are a huge supporter of motorcycles and ABATE and were excited when I asked if we could use the back room for meetings. If you're in the area, stop in for some good food, and good times. Pledge recited. Moment of Silence for our veterans and fallen bikers and their families was observed.
TREASURY:
Treasury report was given by Jeff. Jeff would like to retire from this current position, therefore we are actively looking for a treasurer for 2C. Please reach out to Paul if interested.
MEMBERSHIPS:
Discussion of Summer Hummer on June 19th and going through June 22nd. Suggestions of increasing membership were discussed, and it was thought that the Summer Hummer is a good way to get people involved/interested. Sign up 5 members and receive an “I Got Mine” T-shirt. **Couples only count as 1 membership
RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE:
As a reminder, RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE. Do not try to keep up with other riders if not able. You will catch up. ABATE offers training. Visit the Programs Page for more information regarding all of the various programs that ABATE offers. https://abatewis.org/programs/safe-rider/
LEGISLATIVE:
Legislative report was given by Don, and we had a special guest, State Legislative Officer, Steve Panten, who also discussed motorcycle profiling. Due to the outlaw biker stereotype that has been widely accepted by law enforcement, statistical data is needed to validate that motorcycle profiling is a national issue. Members and nonmembers alike are asked to fill out a simple survey each year and/or every time a person feels they have been profiled. This survey can be found at https://abatewis.org/ under Popular links.
Lobby Day had a good turnout. Region 2C representatives are Sen. Dan Feyen, Rep. Jerry O’Conner in Fond du Lac and Alex Dallman of Green Lake. Issues being discussed include fuel choice, right to repair, and choice of power source. More faces from 2C are needed to represent ABATE at Lobby Day. Please note the date and times when they become available and plan accordingly. The more voices we have the better. Great time to wear your ABATE gear.
Please take some time to write your representatives to not only get our voices heard but also to get them involved. https://abatewis.org/legislative/emailing-legislators/

OFFICERS TRAINING:
Due to the snow and the fact that Paul snowplows, we unfortunately were unable to make Officer’s Training. Don and Ralph however, were able to go and came back with more knowledge and goodies.
MARKETING:
For any marketing of events, please send required information to Krissy Bowe 2 to 3 months in advance so that she can include the information in the newsletter and/or create posters. There are ABATE popup tents available for use, just work out details with the main office for use. Contact information: 920-858-7189, events@abatewis.org , or krissybowe@gmail.com.
The suggestion was made that since everyone wears the clothing associated with our choice of motorcycles, we should also wear ABATE apparel in public as well, to make ABATE more visible to potentially start conversations to increase membership.
Every current ABATE member is challenged to sign up one or more new members a year.
With the rising costs of printing and distribution, as a reminder, you do have the option of receiving the newsletter electronically. Please let the home office know if you would like to choose that option.
