Region 8A/8C

We held our April meeting on Sunday the 12th at 1 pm at Midway Bar outside of Potosi. We had a beautiful start to the day for riding but did end up with a rainy afternoon. Even with the rain we had a great turnout for the meeting.

 

We also held our annual spring highway clean up on Sunday April 12th, thankfully the rain held off until we were done. We had a great turnout for the clean-up and picked up 12 bags of trash!! Big thanks to everyone who made it to the highway clean up!!

 

Our big discussions for this meeting were on Bikers Stuffing Stockings, the region holding a fun run, and Summer Hummer. For Bikers Stuffing Stockings we need to start discussing whether we are going to continue doing the live auction for this fundraiser, or if we want to switch to a different type of fundraiser. One that was brought up was a gun/meat bundle bingo, to help raise money for local struggling families in the community. Some members of the region had attended a few in the area and had said these events had a great turnout from the community. A few people we had talked to at these events had also stated that people in the community have been asking for more bingo events for them to attend. A gun/meat bundle bingo could be the fundraiser to be able to pull more people from our community to help support our cause to help local families and learn more about ABATE. If anyone has any other ideas, please bring them to the next meeting in May!

 

Eric and Too Tall have been trying to start a regional fun run, to be able to fundraise money to donate to ABATE. It is also a way to involve more of the bars who are members of ABATE that we aren’t always able to plan meetings at. They talked at the meeting that they’ve got a good foundation started for this fundraiser but that it might not happen this summer, since we got a late start on it compared to other fun runs who already have their books printed and at bars already. If anyone is still interested in helping organize the fun run, they should speak to Eric or Too Tall.

 

Summer Hummer is June 26th-29th. Eric has the advance Summer Hummer tickets, please see him at the next meeting for them if you are interested in purchasing them. We have discussed themes for this year and decided on “Rush Week - Party Like Your 20 Again.” More details to come with the theme.

 

We would also like to send get well wishes and prayers to our most amazing member of our region, Eileen Zart. She always has a smile on her face at meetings, is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and makes some pretty amazing homemade onion rings. She also helps the most with Bikers Stuffing Stockings, with helping put baskets together, storing them, setting everything up on the computer, and finding families in need and taking them shopping for their food and Christmas presents for their kids. We don’t know what we would do without you, Eileen!! Get better soon and we can’t wait to see you at some upcoming meetings!!
