ABATE of WI - Region 2C
Meetings: 1st Sunday of the month at Noon
The meeting was called to order at 11:30 am. The Pledge was recited followed by a Moment of Silence for all our veterans, fallen bikers, friends, family, and the United States in general.
Treasury report given. Discussion was made regarding raffle licensing renewals.
Legislative updates given. Governor Evers just vetoed the consumer's right to choose their choice of engines.
Right to Repair. The scope of this issue has significantly expanded beyond motorcycles to include a wide range of essential equipment: UTVs, ATVs, boats, snowmobiles, all types of cars, farm equipment, and even home equipment like lawn mowers. This bill, not progressing forward or being vetoed by the governor, would pose a serious threat to the existence of independent repair shops. These local businesses will soon lose the ability to access the necessary parts and diagnostic updates required to maintain and repair your vehicles. This effectively forces consumers to rely solely on authorized dealerships or consider purchasing electric alternatives.
The consequences for consumers are critical. Farmers will be unable to call their local independent mechanic for urgent, in-field repairs, leading to costly downtime. Boaters and UTV/ATV users who experience breakdowns will be stranded and required to contact distant, potentially more expensive dealerships. Small engine shops will close. It is crucial for every individual who values the freedom to choose their repair provider and engine type to get involved.
While joining an organization like ABATE of Wisconsin Inc. (or the corresponding chapter in your state) is an option, you do not need to be a member of any club to make your voice heard. Your participation is essential. Complaining about governmental decisions without taking action is insufficient. Speak up now, reach out to your local representatives to safeguard your right to repair and the future of independent repair shops.
Locally, an update of Mark Snider, the driver who intentionally swerved into and killed Elijah "Eli" Sowin. At this time, he continues to plead guilty by reason of insanity. The next Status conference is on Wed, Nov.12 at 8:30 am. Elijah’s family continues to appreciate and welcome the support from ABATE members. The courtroom is located on the second floor of Fond du Lac County Courthouse, 160 S Macy St, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
Sport bikers. They know how the area PDs work. They know that departments are only allowed to go so fast or go so far. They know that there are covers to cover their helmets, plastic can be swapped in minutes, and license plates are flipped up to be unseen.
Call to Action: PLEASE fill this out and send it in when you receive it. This is not restricted to motorcyclists or ABATE members, it is open to everyone, and everyone should respond. Share with your family and friends.
Get involved! Lobby Day for 2026 will be held on Feb 17, 2026. Carpooling was discussed. If anyone is interested in attending, please let Squeaky know.
Officer’s Training: February 6-8, 2026. Marshfield Hotel, Marshfield, WI.
Discussion regarding recruiting members was discussed. Ways to get the word out included hosting bike nights, partnering up with American Legion Riders. Open to other ideas. Please reach out to Squeaky with yours.
We had special guests at our meeting today that included Vicki Sanfelipo and Tony Pan Sanfelipo. Vicki discussed Road Guardian Scene Management classes. We will be getting advanced classes set up. Discuss these classes with your local EMS, PD, and even towing companies as they would benefit from these classes.
If you are interested in participating in these classes, please reach out to Squeaky.
Our very own Don Lennop was presented with the Founders Award. This is an award that Tony presents to those he identifies as “unsung heroes.” Of course, we all know that it's Julie that keeps Don organized and makes him look good. CONGRATS Don!!
The next ABATE meeting will be held Sunday, December 7 at 12 pm at Tiger’s Bar and Grill located at W12010 Rose-Eld Rd, Ripon WI. This will be our Christmas meeting. Potluck and white elephant gifts.
The January 2026 meeting will be held at the American Legion Foxhole Bar, 500 Fond du Lac Ave, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
Please join the ABATE 2C Facebook Page for any updates/changes regarding our meetings or events.
