ABATE 4C April 2026 Meeting.

Shannon CTO at 1:20 from Ripp’s Bar in Riplinger, 20 members present. Tom Babbitt led the Pledge of Allegiance and MOS for our lost brothers and sisters. Thanks to Ripp’s for hosting our meeting.

 

Shannon introduced State Representative Karen Hurd and State Senator Jesse James to our meeting. Karen Hurd has been very busy since she’s taken office. She is on the joint-finance committee. She has been dealing with the Veterans homes in the state. Governor Evers closed them. She introduced bills to support and keep the Veteran homes open. She also introduced a bill to make it so anyone can open a home for homeless veterans and get funding. She worked on a sexual assault bill, with a statute of limitations to 20 years from 10 years. It passed. Senator Jesse James has passed 70 bills in the last four years he has been in office. He will retire this fall. He explained why the Right to Repair bill didn’t make. The bills were not introduced in time to be heard and discussed. Wisconsin Manufacturing and Commerce is a big opponent of AB129 and SB135. A lot of businesses follow them. We are glad to have Rep. Karen Hurd and Sen. Jesse James in our corner. We thanked them for their time and sharing their information with us.

 

Paul read the February minutes without additions or corrections. MMS to accept as read by Randy and Tom, all aye, motion carried. Tom Babbitt reports the motorcycle death toll is at 3 as of date. Ride your own ride.

 

He reports the Region 4 Chili and Dart Tournament in Fenwood had a good turnout. Land Warming May 15-17th. New picnic tables for the Land coming, sponsorships available. 30 States to attend “Bikers on the Beltway” for MRF.

 

September 20th is election for regional rep. Must be on the ballot for 3 consecutive months.

 

Legislative report: Pogie said most items were discussed at great length by Sen. James and Rep. Hurd earlier. When “call to action” comes up, respond and tell all your friends to do the same.

 

Membership; Rainy got her T-shirt for recruiting 10 new members, atta girl! Numbers are coming up. Members need to recruit more.

 

The Motorcycle awareness rally and brat feed will be at Strike Time Lanes in Neillsville May 2nd, starting at 11 until 3. Members are urged to put up posters and tell their friends. Hoping the weather cooperates. Dates to remember: May 2 Brat Feed & Awareness Rally, Neillsville. May 9th bike blessing @ Drink Inn, Hwy X, Thorp. May 17th Meeting Brickyard in Neillsville. June 7th June Dairy Days Parade, Thorp. June 21st meeting at Early Birds, Thorp. June 25-28th Hummer. July 10-12th Trails End Region Campout. Regions 4C and 7B w/Band. 50/50 raffle of $147 won by Penny.

 

 

ABATE 4C May Meeting.                                                                

Shannon CTO at 1 pm from The Brickyard in Neillsville, 8 members present. Pogie led the pledge, while Shannon led the MOS. Sandy read the April minutes. MMS to approve them as read by Pogie and Randy.

                                                                                                                                                               

Treasurer’s report given by Shannon in Tom’s absence. Accounts are up to date. Tom was at the State meeting, more info in June.                                 

 

Legislative report. Pogie said E-85 year-round gas sales was passed by the House. We’re not expecting it to pass the Senate. Be alert for call to actions. Europe is planning to sell E-37 fuel, should be interesting.                         

 

Membership. Rainy had a couple of renewals during our brat feed in Neillsville. I personally signed 2 new members since Officer training. It’s not hard, just ask. Keep it up members.                                                                                                    

 

We are still looking for a Representative for Taylor County.                                    

 

Old Business. Awareness rally brat feed went well. 144 brats were sold. 2 membership renewals sold. It will happen again. Fun Run reports from Kay. She said One Shot in Owen was selling a lot. They put it on Facebook.

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

New Business. Trails End will have a new event for us this year, a meat raffle. The car show flyers will be printed soon. Last year 18 trophies were awarded, with 70 entries. We have a raffle for it. The date will be August 29th. We will be in the June Dairy Day parade again this year on June 7th. Red, white, and blue is the theme. United States 250th anniversary. Randy supplied us with construction schedules within Clark County; Shannon will forward to the newsletter.

                                                                               

Clark County Sheriff Kerry Kirn was our guest speaker. He spoke of his goal of getting closer to the people of Clark County between his staff and the residents of the county. He spoke of his history as an officer. He talked of biker profiling and our goals. A discussion of different situations between the public and our members was discussed. He said he would speak with us at any time.

July 10-12 Trails End joint camping 4C/7B. July 11th Meeting at Trails End noon.
