Hey all -

 

I gotta start out by sharing my appreciation for our Region. In late September members showed up to say goodbye to member Chuck Tramel. In October you all showed up again to help us say goodbye to my dad, Dwayne Bowe. I was blown away by the support from all of you as he lost his battle with cancer. The cards, the texts, the calls, the messages, and the grace given was amazing. My family appreciated all of the members who came to the funeral and helped us send him off with one last rumble. ABATE truly is a family and I'm proud to be part of it. I'm also thankful that my dad introduced me to it over 15 years ago. Without that, I wouldn't have met all of you. THANK YOU!

 

We started October with our Summer Freedom Ride Party at FishTail Inn on the 3rd. Thank you Dale for hosting us, the live music of Wade Allen, and for promoting the event. There were lots of people there who didn't have books that bought raffle tickets. The committee did an excellent job getting places in the 2026 books and getting donations for the raffles. It was our best year yet! Congrats to the winners: 1st - Morris (Mokey) Fagg, 2nd - Kim Lambie, 3rd - Dean Plate, 4th - Ted Dugan, Meeting - Susie Bauer, ABATE Acres - Krissy Bowe. The 50/50 was also won by Kim Lambie. Prize winners donated $580 of their winnings to the Marlene Bautch Fund and that will be doubled by Hupy & Abraham. Great job everyone.

 

On the 4th we held our meeting at The Gravel Pit Sports Bar & Grill. Thank you, Jeff, for hosting us! We went over the results of the 2026 Summer Freedom Ride which was our best year yet. Members made donations to the Marlene Bautch fund for the leftovers from the party. Committee members also started dividing up the establishments and grabbed the paperwork for 2027. As I write this article, we already collected over 15 establishments. Please reach out to me if you are interested in helping us reach out to businesses or if you know of one that would like to get in. Then we talked about the Meat Raffle at Jeanne's Bar on November 15th after the Packer game. Posters were available for delivery to advertise. Please help us share. We would also love to see you at the Meat Raffle. We are working on a different event to replace the bike & car show at the Smiling Moose. More details to come. We also started to talk about places to host our 2027 meetings and are working to finalize a schedule at the November meeting so it can be announced at the December meeting. There was also discussion about moving meetings when they fall on a holiday weekend. It was voted that we continue to move them to the next Saturday since I still have the Board meetings on the 2nd Sunday. After that we talked about the State events and raffles coming up.

 

The following weekend was the Annual Meeting and with the funeral, no one from our Region was able to attend the festivities. I was able to be at the Board meeting on Sunday and learned that we took 2nd in Treasury fundraising. Congratulations to 1H on taking 1st. Thank you to all of our Region members/volunteers, businesses, and members of the public that support us and our events. We continue to be a strong Region for ABATE.

 

Hope to see you all in November at the Meeting & the Meat Raffle. Hopefully we'll get some more riding weather yet before the cold sticks around for a while.
