Meetings are the FIRST Sunday of the month at 1 pm at the Snider Richardson American Legion Post 273 in Grand Marsh, WI. Our January meeting will be at NOON instead of 1 since it is our Annual Holiday party. We will have a short meeting followed by a potluck party.

 

Meeting was called to order by our Regional Rep Tim followed by the Pledge and a Moment of Silence for our downed brothers, sisters and those in harm’s way. We had 14 members in attendance.

 

September meeting minutes/secretary report was printed on the back of the agenda for the members to read. It was accepted

and approved. Barb gave the Treasurer’s report. It was accepted and approved. Rick reported for membership that we have 67

members and we had 1 new member join at the meeting. Don reported for products that they are available on-line now and

that Lobby Day shirts are available to order. Area Rep did not have anything to report. Tim reported for Share The Road that

the driving school is not interested; however, some of the agricultural farms may be interested in a class during their off

season. They would get back to us. John gave a recap of what was in the newsletter for legislation. Brenda mentioned that the

governor vetoed SB184.

 

Old business that was mentioned was the Annual ABATE of Wisconsin meeting that was held in Rothschild and the land closing at ABATE Acres.

 

New business:

Motion was made that our Annual Holiday Party be potluck and be held at our January meeting. All were in favor so the Holiday Party will be on January 4th.

 

Motion was made to continue holding our monthly meetings as we currently do at the American Legion Post 273 in Grand Marsh for 2026, it was seconded and all was in favor so our monthly meetings will stay the same.

 

Discussed when we will have our annual Cabin Fever event. It was mentioned that it should always be held the same weekend. Dawn made motion to always hold the Cabin Fever the weekend after Memorial Day, Rick seconded the motion, and all was in favor so the Cabin Fever will always be held the weekend after Memorial Day. The date will be May 30th for 2026. At our December meeting we will be setting up the event committee and decide on the location for the Cabin Fever for 2026.

 

Sweetheart raffle tickets are available. See Brenda if you would like a ticket. The raffle will be drawn at officer's training in February. Officer's training will be February 6-8.

 

Lobby Day is February 17 - Shirts are available for ordering. There is a schedule for Lobby Day training and the bus schedule for the day is listed in the newsletter.

 

ABATE Acres land warming was mentioned.

 

Sponsors are needed for the Summer Hummer, and the deadline is December 31. Please get information from Tim. Also, it was mentioned that there will be an increase for the event tickets. Price for members will be $40 in advance, $45 at the gate, $35 for a day pass and non-members $85.

 

Dennis Herzberg lost $196 with the membership drawing. Just a reminder that you must be present at the meeting the month prior to win the membership drawing.
