Meetings will be held on the following dates at 1 pm at the Snider Richardson American Legion Post 273 in Grand Marsh, WI unless otherwise noted. Sunday, November 1, 2026; Sunday, December 6, 2026; and Sunday, January 3 at Noon this will be our Annual Holiday Potluck.

 

Meeting was called to order by our Regional Rep Tim followed by the Pledge and a Moment of Silence for our downed brothers, sisters and those in harm’s way. We had 10 members and 2 visiting members including the District 7 Director present for the meeting.

 

August meeting minutes/secretary report was printed on the back of the agenda for the members to read. It was accepted and approved. We did not have a September meeting. Barb gave the treasurer's report. It was accepted and approved. Tim reported for membership that we have 55 members and 2 junior patriots. Products are available at abatewis.org; make sure to check the size chart for each product, sizes may vary by brand. Area Rep was not present and there was nothing to report for Share The Road. For legislation Brenda talked about the questionnaires that we need to get out to anyone that does repairs (farmers, cranberry marshes, landscaping companies) in regard to Right to Repair. We have a LONG way to go to reach our goal of 3000, along with emails from MRF in regard to distracted driving (cell phone usage prior to a crash) and the new federal fuel economy rules. We had a great discussion on e-bikes including the different classes and the media calling them motorcycles. It was noted that ABATE is not taking a lead on anything in legislation for the e-bikes; however, staying aware of what is being said. Brenda also mentioned that our 2027 legislative agenda will be set prior to the BOD meeting at the annual meeting and that Lobby Day 2027 will be March 18. Last but not least to know your candidates prior to voting in November. You can see current bills and voting record for each if you go to www.congress.gov.

 

Old Business: don't forget to bring in your change for the "change jar" for the fundraising to protect the history of ABATE of Wisconsin.

 

New Business: There was a nomination made for Don for Regional Rep and it was seconded. Tim was previously nominated for Regional Rep. Everyone present cast their vote for Regional Rep and the District 7 Director counted the ballots. Our new Regional Rep is Don.

 

There are Sweetheart Cash Raffle tickets available - contact Brenda for tickets.

 

Brenda mentioned that everyone should have received a commitment letter from the state office for raising money to protect the history of ABATE of WI. If you did not get a letter, please pick one up.

 

Cabin Fever committee will be set up at our November meeting. We will also discuss ideas for 2027. We need to determine the location and details so that we can get posters made.

 

Our Annual Holiday Party was talked about and was voted to be potluck on January 3, 2027, at NOON at American Legion Post 273, Grand Marsh.

 

There was brief discussion about our 2027 meetings. Suggestion was made to have the meetings to be moving meetings so that we are seen more in the community. The public is welcome and there is a possibility that we could gain more members. We will discuss further and set dates for our 2027 monthly meetings at our November meeting.

 

There are several events happening throughout the state for ABATE check out your newsletter for some great opportunities to visit other regions events.

 

Barb won $29 on the 50/50 raffle and donated $20 to ABATE.

Adams Inn lost $78.50 with the membership drawing. Just a reminder that you must be present at the meeting and present the month prior to win the membership drawing.
