Meeting was called to order by our Regional Rep Tim followed by the Pledge and a Moment of Silence for our downed brothers, sisters and those in harm’s way. We had 15 members, including Junior Patriot, in attendance.
March meeting minutes/Secretary report was printed on the back of the agenda for the members to read it was accepted and approved. Barb gave Treasurer's report for February and March since was not present for the March meeting. Both reports were accepted and approved.
Rick reported for membership that we have 56 members and 1 junior patriot. We have 4 pending renewal and 9 lapsed members. Products are available at abatewis.org; make sure to check the size chart for each product, sizes may vary by brand.
Tim reported for Share The Road that he is waiting to hear back from a couple of companies. The Area Rep had nothing to report. Brenda talked about SB 831 (Autonomous Vehicles) getting voted off the floor in the 11th hour. Emails from MRF on 2024 motorcycle deaths and ways that we can all step up to do our part in trying to reduce the numbers. Also, Ford's BlueCruise hands-free driving system. The importance of the call to actions and if you are not receiving the emails to check your spam/trash folders. If you are not receiving the emails, then to reach out to Marie at the state office. Talked about PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) which are conducting a survey in response to Right to Repair and that ABATE is supporting the survey. When you receive the email get the survey out to local businesses for them to complete. Last but not least, Motorcycle Awareness month is May, and we have 3 locations and 2 days that we have made arrangements to set up and get the message out to the public. Saturday, May 2, we will be at Oxford Travel Plaza 10-12 (we should have a good turnout since there is a fishing tournament going on in Montello). Saturday, May 9 we will be at Pioneer Travel Mart in Westfield 10-11:30 am and the Corner Pump (corner of 13 and 82) Wisconsin Dells 12-1:30 pm.
Old Business Tim has tickets for Kooler Kart that will be drawn at the Summer Hummer. Brenda has Advance Summer Hummer tickets.
New Business May is Motorcycle Awareness month come and join us at one or all of the places to help raise awareness. ABATE Acres Land Opening is May 15-17, and it is a great time. Cabin Fever will be May 30 at Family Affair Restaurant, 208 North Main Street, Friendship, WI. There will be a raffle at each stop and a bucket raffle at the end of the ride. Come join us for the day.
