ABATE of WI Summer Hummer State Rally Committee
By Deb Deck

Why don't you consider going to the ABATE of Wisconsin Summer Hummer State Rally!

What aids us in making a decision which event to attend, maybe it's Bike week Daytona, Sturgis, maybe some of us like to attend other ABATE State Functions, ABATE of Iowa Freedom Rally, ABATE of Minnesota state rally, or Illinois, Michigan or Indiana. Which runs do we want to pencil in, the Cannon run, the Flood run, the Thunder run, maybe it's the MDA Run or many of the other local events in your area; with so many options how do we juggle our precious vacation time and make weekend plans? Do we make this decision based on where we've been in the past? Word of mouth? Maybe we peruse our biker rags?

Did you hear last year's Summer Hummer State Rally had 2 visiting journalists? Richee with Saddle Tramp magazine wrote "I was completely impressed with the 80 acre complex and its facilities. I had a good time checking everything out at the 2009 ABATE Summer Hummer State Rally... I will say that next year, I will pencil it into my schedule to be able to attend the whole event throughout the entire event, as you should too." August 2009 Issue 4. Also Natanic, a photographer with Paisano Publications (Easyrider, Biker, V-Twin magazines etc), visited last year's Summer Hummer, you can look for a 3 page article by 'Natanic' in the April 2010 edition of 'Biker Magazine'.

If it's the distance that predetermines your weekend plans, ABATE Acres is centrally located In Greenwood, WI just outside of Thorp, WI or Greenwood, WI. From the more southeastern or southwestern corners of WI it's an easy 4-5 hour ride. (And honestly who of us can say that we don't put on the miles on any given weekend).

Or is it the Money? In comparison to other ABATE State Rallies this rally is very reasonably priced, just $25 advance, $30 at the gate for the weekend (member price) including camping, in comparison to ABATE of MN State Rally $30 Advanced, $40 at the gate and a $35 fee for parking Auto's and RV's on the site, And the Freedom Rally in Iowa is $35 in advance or $40 at the gate. Did you know that 100% of proceeds go to fighting for Bikers Rights?

If its music you're interested in, we have the d-Railers to headline Thursday night. Reverend Raven & the Chain Smoking Altar Boys will be headlining Friday night. And the headliner for Saturday night, Lukyn Skywyrd, the top southern rock cover band in the state who performed at the 2009 Summer Hummer State Rally, will be back for another year. There's the local Bike Run and raffles, the State Wide Poker Run. Don't want to sit around the camp during the day? There's a self guided tour in beautiful Southern Clark Co to the Highground Veterans Memorial to pay tribute to all Veterans in Neillsville.

We have Vendors from all over the country, Food, On-site Bar and Ice sales and new this year we will have and ATM on the grounds. If you like to stay on the grounds there are activities such as Bike Games and Bar Stool Races, Bobbing for Beer, the anatomy contest, and new this year, build a bikini contest (no material or leather allowed). With so many activities, runs and entertainment - why don't you consider going to the ABATE of WI Summer Hummer State Rally? This is a Biker class event!

Did you know that 100% of the staff are volunteers? But we are still looking for staff to help in many areas at the event, if you would like to volunteer at the Bar contact Ric & Daisy Mellon in advance of the event, or maybe you'd like to help out at the front gate, contact Ron & Nona Zepplin, if you would like to assist in Security contact Evan Hanson, or with the Statewide Poker Run Nancy Neitzel Santee, or the Local Run Tom Babbitt (who really needed some extra hands last year.) Maybe you would like to aid the set up/running of the Biker Games contact Andy Matthiassen. Like to sell retail, contact Betty Roberge for selling products. Please help out wherever you can.

Now will you consider attending ABATE of Wisconsin Summer Hummer State Rally? You really don't know what you've been missing!
